Crazy Rich Asians should continue to dominate the box office over the Labour Day weekend despite two new movies arriving in wide release and one significant expansion. For the most part, it is the usual forgettable late August fare with the sci-fi action movie Kin looking unlikely to pull in many viewers and the WWII thriller Operation Finale also seemingly being dumped by MGM despite a cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Ben Kingsley and Melanie Laurent. The cyber-thriller Searching starring John Cho, on the other hand, is looking to build on strong reviews and a successful debut in limited release as it expands to over 1000 screens. Other new movies in limited release include Lenny Abrahamson’s period horror film The Little Stranger starring Domhnall Gleeson and the Spanish language drama Ya Veremos.
