Jason Reitman is back on the festival circuit this fall with his latest film The Front Runner, his second film to be released this year after the fairly well-received Tully. This one finds him for the first time drawing on true events with Hugh Jackman playing U.S. Senator Gary Hart, the 1988 presidential candidate whose campaign was derailed by a scandal. The film purports to capture a moment in time where politics were suddenly overtaken by gossip and tabloid journalism and never looked back. With a supporting cast that includes Vera Farmiga, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina and Sara Paxton, this feels like Reitman returning to Oscar-friendly territory on par with his 2009 film Up in the Air. The Front Runner hits select theatres on Nov. 7th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
