David Mackenzie’s Outlaw King Trailer Starring Chris Pine

These days it’s becoming harder and harder to find a movie premiering at a big film festival that isn’t a Netflix or Amazon Original. Case in point: TIFF just announced that their opening night film will be David Mackenzie’s Outlaw King, which is coming to Netflix just a few months later. The movie stars Chris Pine as Robert the Bruce, the man who led Scotland in the First War of Scottish Independence against England. It looks to be a Braveheart-style period epic with plenty of large scale battles, which is somewhat unexpected from a director who is best known for smaller contemporary films like Hell or High Water. Outlaw King hits select theatres and Netflix on Nov. 9th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

They certainly spoiled Braveheart in this trailer. Looks like cheap garbage, and a dreadful accent. Could very well just be a shitty trailer though, Hell or High Water was really solid!

Absolutely loved Hell of High Water, but wondering if that film benefited more from a talented screenwriter than director.

Accent is actually not bad compared with what passes for Scottish over the past few decades. I put it down to a good dialogue coach and a Scottish director.
