The Oath Trailer Starring Ike Barinholtz and Tiffany Haddish

After rising through the comedy ranks first as a cast member on MadTV and then as a regular on The Mindy Project, it feels like Ike Barinholtz has been everywhere as of late including appearances in such movies as Neighbors, Neighbors 2, Sisters, Snatched and Blockers. Now he is about to make the move behind the camera as well with his writing / directing debut The Oath. The movie imagines a not-too-distant future where the U.S. government requires all citizens to sign a loyalty oath to their president and focuses on the conflict that ensues within one family over Thanksgiving as the deadline approaches. With a cast that includes Tiffany Haddish, John Cho, Carrie Brownstein, Billy Magnussen and Barinholtz himself, this dark politically-charged comedy is also produced by Sean McKittrick (Get Out, Blackkklansman). The Oath hits theatres on Oct. 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Hah. I didn’t know his name and wondered why someone would make that guy a leading man.

A five minute skit on SNL? Sure. A full length film? No.
