Despite putting out a relatively dismal crop of original films so far this year, Netflix has a few promising movies arriving later this year… one of which happens to be the latest film from director Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity, Children of Men). The movie is called Roma and it is shot entirely in black and white so it’s already gunning for some Oscars pretty much by default. Not much is currently known about the plot except that it revolves around a year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s and it draws from many of Cuaron’s own experiences growing up. The first trailer has arrived online this week and one thing’s for sure: it looks beautiful. Roma will premiere at several film festivals this fall before hitting select theatres and arriving on Netflix towards the end of the year. Check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
