Alita: Battle Angel Trailer #2

Although Comic-Con technically wrapped up last night, 20th Century Fox managed to sneak in a live Q&A with James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez this morning from San Diego to promote their upcoming film Alita: Battle Angel. They also dropped a brand new trailer for the movie, which is based on the manga series by Yukito Kishiro. As we saw in the first trailer, the main character (played by Rosa Salazar) is a cyborg with a unique CG-enhanced look that attempts to merge the manga style with live-action. While the jury is still out on that, the rest of the sci-fi world looks impressive. The movie is directed by Rodriguez from a script co-written by Cameron and the cast also includes Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson. Alita: Battle Angel hits theatres on Dec. 21st; check out the new trailer after the jump.

So is she an all created CGI character?? Looks like it. To bad cause the movie looks interesting considering it’s directed by RR whom I am not a fan of.

Wish they could have used a real actor and used CGI to enhance the features. Looks to VG to me. But I might catch this on the big screen since JC is attached.

Such a bizarre decision to make the character CG. How is that in any way more practical than just having an actress with arm makeup (or digitally repainting them if you want to go that way). Just feels like James Cameron coming up with an excuse for WETA to prototype photo-real humans, and it ain’t working. Aside from that, the world doesn’t feel lived in or believable to me either, but maybe that will be different in the final product

Eyes that big on a realistic looking human being are frightening looking.
