Monday Morning Box Office Report: Hotel Transylvania 3 Spooks Skyscraper

Despite some significant competition from Incredibles 2, Sony Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3 managed to top the box office over the weekend with a respectable $44 million. That’s a few million less than its predecessor made in 2015, but overall the animated franchise is showing no real sign of slowing down. Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp fell to second place, dropping a steep 62% to earn $29.1 million in its second weekend. Meanwhile Skyscraper starring Dwayne Johnson was forced to settle for third place with a disappointing $25.48 million. That’s less than half of what San Andreas made in its opening weekend and also a fair bit less than Rampage made earlier this year as well. Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, Sorry to Bother You jumped into the top 10 with $4.3 million after expanding to over 800 screens.
