Assassination Nation Trailer

Although there were a handful of big buzz movies coming out of Sundance this year including Sorry to Bother You, The Tale and Hereditary, the biggest sale of the festival went to Assassination Nation, which was acquired by Neon and Joe & Anthony Russo’s AGBO for a cool $10 million. The movie revolves around a group of high school girls in Salem who go on a violent rampage after a hacker starts leaking private information about the town’s residents. Written and directed by Sam Levinson (Another Happy Day), the first red band trailer attempts to sell it based on shock value and a satirical edge but in between that it sort of looks like a millennial feminist version of The Purge. Assassination Nation hits select theatres on Sept. 21st; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.
