Monday Morning Box Office Report: Incredibles 2 Delivers Biggest Animated Opening Ever

It was yet another gigantic win for Disney at the box office over the weekend as Brad Bird’s Incredibles 2 catapulted to a $180 million opening weekend, the eighth largest of all time and the best ever for an animated film. That’s obviously the biggest debut for a Pixar movie as well, smashing the $135 million record previously held by Finding Dory. In second place, Ocean’s 8 dropped 53% to take in another $19.5 million while the R-rated comedy Tag opened in third with a somewhat unremarkable $14.6 million. Solo and Deadpool 2 rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, Superfly quietly opened in sixth with $6.3 million ($8.4 million over five days). For those keeping track, Disney now holds 9 of the top 10 biggest domestic opening weekends, but will that change again when Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrives next weekend?
