Tim Burton’s Live-Action Dumbo Teaser Trailer

After kickstarting Disney’s current obsession with live-action remakes of animated classics with Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton is teaming up with Disney again for a new adaptation of their 1941 classic Dumbo. Danny DeVito plays a circus owner who hires former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) to care for a newborn baby elephant with oversized ears. When they discover that he can fly, however, the show suddenly attracts the attention of enigmatic entrepreneur V. A. Vandemere (Michael Keaton). While some long-time Tim Burton fans will once again be left questioning his career choices, you can see why he might be drawn to a story like this if only he can maintain some sense of darkness underneath it all. Either way, I’m sure it will easily make another $1 billion for Disney. Dumbo hits theatres on March 29th; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Even though Burton has somewhat fallen from grace in the past this combo MUST have Frank creamin’ again. Not completely sold on the Dumbo CGI yet.

  • The colors are to bright which makes the whole thing look even more CGI than it already does. It ain’t too hard to build a real circus setting, come on, Timmy.

I can hear Frank cumming from here

  • Lori Cerny

The original is the only animated film I’ve ever cried during. I can’t even sit through this trailer, so it will probably be 5/5 stars for me.

    First thoughts: Looks like TRASH

  • Tim

    Looks really, really orange.

  • Should this have been a Tim Burton film? He’s more in the realm of Wizard of Oz. This looking ‘Miss Peregrine’ dark feels like a misfire. Dumbo is better for it being melancholy, but not Gothic.

Burton was my first understanding of a director as a kid because I realised the same guy made the two Batman’s, Nightmare before Christmas and Beetlejuice which I loved.

My other favourite childhood films were Alice, Willy Wonka and Dumbo.

Its crazy all the remakes he’s picked and how fucking gross they all are.

    He’s cooked.

    this looks gothic to you?

  • I rewatched, fuck, it doesn’t look gothic! I think I was projecting too much Burton onto this the first time.
