After earning plenty of acclaim and praise for intense dramas like A Prophet, Rust and Bone and Dheepan, French filmmaker Jacques Audiard is turning to some lighter subject matter for his next film. The Sisters Brothers is a western comedy that takes place in Oregon in 1851 and revolves around a pair of brothers who are hired to kill a gold prospector who has stolen from their boss. Based on the novel by Patrick deWitt, it stars Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly giving performances that feel vaguely Coen Brothers-esque with a supporting cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal and Riz Ahmed. Count me in. The Sisters Brothers hits theatres sometime this fall; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
