Fans of Broad City and Girls might want to keep an eye on this upcoming R-rated comedy, which played at Sundance and SXSW to mostly positive reviews earlier this year. Never Goin’ Back revolves around two teenage girls in Texas, high school dropouts looking to take a week off work to do nothing more than chill at the beach. Of course, things quickly go off the rails after their apartment gets robbed and they show up to work high. No doubt these two characters are such disasters that they will rub some viewers the wrong way and yet it also seems refreshing to have two women cast in such boorish roles. Written and directed by Augustine Frizzell, an actor who has previously appeared in such films as Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Krisha, the movie stars Camila Morrone, Maia Mitchell and Kyle Mooney. A24 will release Never Goin’ Back in select theatres on Aug. 3rd; check out the red band trailer after the jump and see what you think.
