    The random current event topics were fast forward worthy. I prefer the movie review like always. I like the mix of old films and new releases. Dark City was on my shelf for years till you guys reviewed it so I chose to finally watch it. I also enjoy hearing what you all have watched. Like Sean recommended Stalker and I picked it up and enjoyed it. Movie news isn’t a priority for me. Blu ray releases are always fun to go over. I also can’t stress this enough BRING BACK JAY!!!!

    My god, 200 comments…

    FJ was never a show to succumb to stagnation. The fans say “change it up if you want, guys” but then complain that the episodes are “only” 90 minutes long. This is the ultimate loyalty test. Are you able to take in 3.5 hours of unfocused ramblings with no show notes? Reed, you’re a real trooper for doing this. I myself was able to listen to about half of it combined. Perhaps my Fan Credentials will be revoked now. Reviewing an arty film that tests your patience while doing an arty podcast that tests your patience. Whoever was able to listen to all of it without zoning out should have a statue erected in their honor in the St Catharines’ town square.

    I actually found it to be a pretty easy listen. Normally, listen to podcasts almost exclusively at work, but listened to this episode over a 6 hour period or so at home. Good stuff

    Don’t listen to Reed, Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love essential viewing to give a damn about anything in 2046.

    Please, please, please do a retro review of Life of Brian, for the KoC, it is truly one of the funniest movies ever made (so much more than the cock joke). One of the most quotable, brilliant comedies, it is shameful you two haven’t seen it.

    Frank’s grandma died in a state that Frank described as the reason he was against being kept alive whilst vital functions were failing.yet he didn’t know that Alzheimer’s is a fatal disease. The opioid conversation was yet again a demonstration of a stunningly poor general knowledge from Sean. How does it feel to be the smartest person in the room Gerry?

    Sean sits through opioid and Alzheimer’s convo barely uttering a sound since this is a topic that directly affect people and everyone’s world experience but comes alive when they talk about theoretical physics and free will he’s back in the room. Free day care for children in Canada – ‘uh I think I heard something about it’. If you vote in ignorance you get Trump and Brexit.

    Craig… I totally agree with you. I LOVE Film Junk. I’ve met the guys each a couple of times (other than Sean, who keeps being busy with dad stuff), I’ve been on the show via-Skype, I’ve been a fan since close to the first ep… and I had to pause several times, and get through this over multiple listenings.

    Sadly, agreed. He actually did a good job of hosting episode 500, but this appeared to have NO format, not just a different format. I love when these guys tangent, but I don’t need to hear opinions on the opioid epidemic, and other current political news.

    Which sort of explains why you were uncertain about voting in the first place. Almost everything that can be changed through legislation will be mundane crap like people’s well-being and the mechanics of everyday life but at least you didn’t adopt the dangerously arrogant entitled ideology of Frank: it’s your right to have an opinion even if you have no idea what you are voting for.

    Populist film theorists hold Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love as essential viewing before 2046, but there’s a difference between explanation and enhancement. Nothing in the former movies explains why Tony Leung’s character acts the way he does. Knowing what took place in those previous movies only enhances the experience.

    Totally disagree. More off-topic, more tangental, more existential, political, philosophical, paranormal, mundane and fantastical! I don’t tune in to hear reviews of Spielberg movies. I love Stevie and recognise his place in film history, but Reed making me laugh is better than any Spielberg movie, let alone a review for the movie. Next time, let’s go for 6 hours!

    I’ve been here for around 10 years Reed. I used to think that Cantankerous was the pinnacle of Film Junk related content but with this current podcast you’ve pushed the limit into a further level of brilliance. The rest of the world doesn’t know what they’re missing.

    Jay reminded me of Sam Harris’ book, “Free Will.” If you want to read a somewhat succinct reasoning behind the idea that we have no free will, then seek out this book.
