New to Theatres This Weekend: Pacific Rim: Uprising, Unsane, Isle of Dogs

It’s a crowded weekend in theatres as no less than five new movies open in wide release, but it’s still hard to say if any of them will be able to overtake Black Panther. Pacific Rim: Uprising seems like it should be able to get the job done, but the original underperformed domestically back in 2013 and without Guillermo del Toro in the director’s chair it does not seem to be generating a ton of excitement. Other major releases include Steven Soderbergh’s low budget thriller Unsane, the animated Gnomeo & Juliet follow-up Sherlock Gnomes, Biblical drama Paul, Apostle of Christ and the romantic drama Midnight Sun starring Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger. If that’s not enough, we also have Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated film Isle of Dogs opening in select theatres and the graphic novel adaptation I Kill Giants in select theatres and on VOD. What will you be watching this weekend?
