After Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them successfully launched a new franchise set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the sequel aims to deepen the connection to the original movies by bringing Albus Dumbledore into the mix. Jude Law plays a young version of the character in this film, which finds him teaming up with his former student Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) in order to face off against fugitive Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). Although the previous Harry Potter movies went through a rotating crew of directors and writers, this series is maintaining a consistency of vision with David Yates continuing to direct from another screenplay by J.K. Rowling herself. I suppose that’s the safe thing to do, but still, it is a little… BORING. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hits theatres on Nov. 16th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
