Theoretically, it is a pretty busy weekend in theatres with four new movies in wide release, but in reality only one of those is expected to give Black Panther much of a fight. Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time is the second diverse Disney blockbuster to be released in the span of a month, but its far out concept may prevent it from getting the same reception as a more mainstream Marvel movie. Will it still find an audience or will it have the unfortunate distinction of being the next big Disney flop? Other major releases hitting theatres include the horror sequel The Strangers: Prey at Night, b-movie action-thriller The Hurricane Heist and comedic crime flick Gringo starring David Oyelowo and Charlize Theron. In select theatres, we also have Armando Iannucci’s The Death of Stalin and the dark indie comedy Thoroughbreds featuring the final performance of Anton Yelchin. What will you be watching this weekend?
