Film Junk Premium Podcast #64: Wes Anderson

“They’ll never catch me… because I’m fucking innocent.” With his latest film, Isle of Dogs, hitting theatres next month we thought it was time to finally deliver that Wes Anderson premium podcast we had been promising for a while now. Join us as we rediscover his first five films: Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The Darjeeling Limited. Topics of discussion include Wes Anderson’s partnership with Owen Wilson, his recurring themes of dysfunctional families, the challenge of mixing comedy and drama, and his association with the Criterion Collection. So is Rushmore his ultimate masterpiece or has he continued to grow as a filmmaker since then? Did he help save Bill Murray’s career or did it not need saving? Is Wes Anderson a slave to his own obsessions, and if so, is that necessarily a bad thing? Sempre fi, soldier… let’s shag ass and grab this month’s premium podcast below.

    Thank you, sirs.

The zip only has two files instead of the usual four or five. Is that right?

  • Jay Cheel

Yes. I’ve managed to figure out a way to compress the files down without quality loss so that we hopefully won’t have to do multiple chapters anymore (beyond the first chapter for previewing purposes.)
