It’s been almost two years since comedian Garry Shandling passed away, but next month Judd Apatow will pay tribute to his friend and mentor with an epic documentary titled The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling. The four hour (!) doc will air in two parts on HBO and it draws from Shandling’s personal journals (which he wrote from age 25 until his death at age 66) to explore his career aspirations and accomplishments, his comedic philosophy, as well as the challenge of balancing normal life with show business. This is all combined with his own TV appeances, never-before-seen home video footage, and interviews with plenty of other well-known comedians who looked up to the man including Jim Carrey, Sarah Silverman, James L. Brooks, Conan O’Brien and Jerry Seinfeld. The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling will premiere on Monday, March 26th and Tuesday, March 27th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
