The quality of new releases in theatres isn’t necessarily improving this weekend, but at least there are a few more options out there with Valentine’s Day just around the corner. Fifty Shades Freed is the biggest release of the week, bringing the erotic thriller trilogy to a close and going out with both a whimper and a bang if you know what I mean. We’ve also got Clint Eastwood’s latest tribute to American heroism, The 15:17 to Paris, along with the family-friendly live-action / CG hybrid Peter Rabbit. If you’re looking for something a little more off the beaten path, in select theatres we also have Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s sci-fi film Before We Vanish, Alex Ross Perry’s Golden Exits and the Spanish language romantic comedy La Boda de Valentina. Also, all of the Oscar-nominated short films are getting a small theatrical release as well. What will you be watching this weekend?
