I was lucky to catch Good Time in theater a couple months back and loved it! I agree that Ben Safdie’s performance was equal to the more critically lauded one by Pattinson. Surprised no mention from Jay about Robert Pattinson watching the classic COPS clip of the woman falling on her own knife. I immediately thought of him having mentioned how he would love to simply watch that moment “projected in the theater” back on War Dogs ep when discussing a possible COPS movie. Looking forward to the Fincher premium!

Speaking of the NATHAN FOR YOU finale…

Is The Sheriff of Letterboxd really going to allow this?

  • JC

Gotta be golden syrup with my oats

  • Colin

    Weak sauce baby

  • Loren

Really liked ‘Good Time’ as well.. Patterson performance reminded me sort of VVincent Gallo’s performance in Buffalo 66. What do you think?

  • Blake in Boston

Cool, cool, weird voice Sean, very cool. How’s that next GameJunk podcast coming along?—Asking for a friend.

  • Sean

    We’re working on it… slowly.

  • Blake in Boston

Take your time bud, you can’t rush perfection.

  • Colin

    He should be excommunicated

  • Karl with a K

Whenever you do record, please discuss the shit show that is Star Wars Battlefront II.

  • Indianamcclain

I know Frank’s the King of Conspiracy, but I think he’s off about Ready Player One bombing. I know a lot of people that are looking forward to it.

  • Bizzaro Nate

Say waaat?? No mention in the news section of the latest scandals from the Hollyweird witch trials??? I was hoping for some hot takes :/ #howdeydodat

  • Karl with a K

I’m not sure why they skipped the Spacey re-casting. That was a pretty huge story.

  • Frankie Knuckles

I don’t think it’s going to bomb, if I said that it was a mistake. I think it looks like a huge piece of shit. Not a loosey duecey by any means, a HUGE MONSTROUS HARD DUECE.

  • Newtman98

Isn’t solid stool healthier than loose stool?

  • Jake

Frank – I am not sure about your stance on fan fiction but you may want to check out ‘Into the Great Unknown’ for your Han Solo/Indiana Jones time travel fix.

  • Not when it’s that big. Definite tearing incoming.

  • Samb

Also make sure it’s a sinker, not a floater. Floaters mean you’re not metabolizing fat properly. #themoreyouknow

  • Matthew Fung

You guys should check out heaven knows what by the safdie brothers also, some of the same actors appear in Good Time. That movie is definitely worth a watch. Might not be as good but still a great movie in my opinion, its almost like an american trainspotting.

  • I have my own website, jerks.

  • Sean

Hey everyone, check out Matt’s own website and series of podcasts over at Where the Long Tail Ends, which is still going strong!

  • Indianamcclain

Will you guys review “The Killing of a Sacred Deer”?

  • Sean

Was hoping to but it seems to be disappearing from theatres already instead of expanding. It is playing near me but tonight is the last night.

Either way, the first two weeks of December have no major releases in theatres so we’re hoping to catch up with things like this and/or Three Billboards, The Florida Project, The Square and Lady Bird.

  • Newtman98

I just started Keto so I’m actually going to look for this. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the kind words guys. Glad Jay honored us by sitting in the third row for the movie. And happy we could help Frank’s toilet time a little more memorable.

We’ll see you at the movie club hopefully!

On the movie side, totally agree with you guys about Orient Express. It’s pretty boring. Opening 10-15 minutes is promising and then it really peters out after that. I don’t blame you for falling asleep.

  • iammattz

Gotta give the edge to the Baumbach-less Gerwig on Lady Bird vs. the Gerwig-less Meyerowitz Stories. Both were fun, but Lady Bird feels way more special.

  • iammattz

    Zak… gross, man… just gross.

  • Beat_C

I’m glad Jay mentioned “The Square”. I hope Seand and Frank get around to seeing it as well – it’s my favourite movie of the year so far.

  • Nobody

Columbus is another movie worth adding to a catch-up list.

  • Justin Kinzer

Jay is so over reviewing these middle of the road turds and bloated blockbusters. He is totally checked out. And I don’t disagree. About 80% of what they have reviewed in the past 2 years, I haven’t seen and have no interest in ever seeing. No thanks Mummy. I don’t think so BvS:DoJ. Kiss my ass Transformers 5(!). Independence Day 2? Are you kidding me.

And yet where most of the good stuff has been happening, TV, they constantly put down.

They need to change with the times. No more blockbuster schlock, and more TV and smaller budget fare.

    Film Junk is fucked.

But seriously love the show. You three and guests have given me Thousands of hours of chuckles and thought provoking film critique. Long live Film Junk! It’s just film is changing with the digital era. The best stuff isn’t playing at the local Cineplex anymore.
