After co-writing both Frances Ha and Mistress America with Noah Baumbach, Greta Gerwig is trying her hand at directing for the first time (first time solo, anyway) with a new movie that looks to continue in the spirit of those films. Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan as a high school senior living in suburban Sacramento who yearns for something more. As she navigates relationships and college applications, she also butts heads with her mom (Laurie Metcalf) who is struggling to make ends meet because her father (Tracy Letts) was laid off. The movie looks to balance humour and humanity in equal parts and it is yet another A24 release to look forward to this fall. Lady Bird hits select theatres on Nov. 10th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
