After acquiring the film at Sundance earlier this year, IFC Films is finally gearing up to release the acclaimed documentary 78/52 in theatres and on demand next month. Directed by Alexandre O. Philippe (The People vs. George Lucas, Doc of the Dead), the movie features a panel of actors, filmmakers and critics as they dissect and discuss the iconic shower scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and the lasting impact that it had on cinema and pop culture at large. The title refers to the fact that Hitchcock used 78 camera set-ups and 52 cuts to achieve it, and clearly if ever there was a scene that deserved this kind of scrutiny, this is it. With cast of talking heads that includes Guillermo del Toro, Peter Bogdanovich, Eli Roth, Bret Easton Ellis, Walter Murch and Jamie Lee Curtis, this is must-see material for horror fans and cinephiles alike. 78/52 hits select theatres and VOD on Oct. 13th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
