It’s hard to believe that Japanese director Takashi Miike has directed 100 films over the past 25 years, but clearly the man is nothing if not prolific. Movie #100 looks like a pretty fun one that finds him returning to the samurai genre for the first time since the well-received 13 Assassins and Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai. Blade of the Immortal is based on a manga series, however, and clearly adds some fantastical and supernatural elements to the mix as well. The story revolves around a samurai (Takuya Kimura) cursed with immortality who teams up with a young girl (Hana Sugisaki) to seek revenge for the death of her family. Blade of the Immortal will premiere at Fantastic Fest next month before hitting select theatres on Nov. 3rd. Check out the blood-soaked red band trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
