The Florida Project Trailer: The Latest Film from the Director of Tangerine

Although Sean Baker’s 2015 film Tangerine attracted plenty of attention for being shot on an iPhone, his next film finds him returning to 35mm and telling a slightly more sobering story about families living out of budget motels along Route 92 in Orlando. The Florida Project stars Willem Dafoe but it largely revolves around a six-year-old girl and her friends who must make their own fun despite being so close to Disneyworld. On the surface it resembles Andrea Arnold’s American Honey and the films of Harmony Korine but by focusing on kids it also seems more innocent (and potentially more heartbreaking). A24 acquired the film at Cannes earlier this summer and they will release it in select theatres on Oct. 6th. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

This remi ds me of my kids. Whom like to watch families take extravagant vacations on youtube while they find random fun to have around the house. My kids will probably be cooler than the rich kids. At least that is what i tell myself

Looks awesome! Still love Dafoe and consider him so underappreciated! The kids seem amazing in the film too! I’m there!
