It sounds like this person wrote a great script, but the studio just bought it with the intention of re-working it into an existing male-driven action franchise. If I were the screenwriter I would be pretty bummed. Obliviously not too bummed, as they did sell their script.

Yes, Sean, yes I am. I want more films where women can be strong, independent, and fucking cool without worrying about being raped or delineated to damsels-in-distress.

I am a teensy bit nervous that the lead may wind-up being a romantic interest for John Wick, but I’m staying hopeful that they writers don’t follow that old trope.
