For most of his career, Ben Stiller has alternated between big studio comedies and smaller art house ones, but as he gets older he seems to be gravitating a little more towards the latter. His latest film finds him teaming up with writer-director Mike White (Year of the Dog), who has followed a similar path but primarily as a screenwriter. Stiller plays a middle-aged man who is taking his son on an East Coast tour of colleges while grappling with his own life achievements (or perceived lack thereof). With a supporting cast that includes Jemaine Clement, Austin Abrams, Jenna Fischer, Michael Sheen, Luke Wilson and White himself, this looks like a low key comedy that could be both funny and touching. Brad’s Status hits select theatres on Sept. 15th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
