New to Theatres This Weekend: Baby Driver, Despicable Me 3, The House

Despicable Me 3 will dominate multiplexes this weekend as it tries to repeat the billion dollar success of Minions, although there is a growing feeling that people might be experiencing franchise fatigue (which has become a recurring theme this summer). Other movies in wide release include The House starring Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, which could ride rave reviews to become Wright’s most successful movie to date. In select theatres, we have Bong Joon-Ho’s Okja (which is also premiering on Netflix), along with the R-rated Sundance comedy The Little Hours starring Aubrey Plaza, Alison Brie and Dave Franco and Errol Morris’s latest documentary The B-Side: Elsa Dorfman’s Portrait Photography. What will you be watching this weekend?
