The summer slump is expected to continue this weekend with the release of Transformers: The Last Knight, Michael Bay’s fifth (and potentially final) live-action Transformers movie. It is the only major release hitting theatres this weekend so it should easily come out on top, but early estimates already have it putting up the weakest numbers of the series to date. Fortunately, if you’re in New York or L.A., you have a few more promising options this weekend including Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled and acclaimed real-life rom-com The Big Sick starring Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan. For genre fans, Ana Lily Amirpour’s post-apocalyptic cannibal flick The Bad Batch is also in select theatres and on VOD. What will you be watching this weekend?
