David Gordon Green’s Stronger Trailer Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

Earlier this year we learned that David Gordon Green would be directing the next Halloween movie, but before that happens we will also be getting a very different kind of movie from him. Stronger stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Jeff Bauman, one of the survivors of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing who lost both of his legs in the blast. The movie focuses on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend and his physical rehabilitation as he is thrust into the spotlight and embraced as a symbol of Boston Strong. It looks like a potential tearjerker and also the closest David Gordon Green has come to Oscar bait but hopefully he will bring a sense of authenticity that these movies are usually lacking. Stronger stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Tatiana Maslany, Miranda Richardson and Clancy Brown and it hits theatres on Sept. 22nd. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    Definitely Oscar-baity for sure. David Gordon Green seems to fare better when he is working from a script he wrote.

    If DGG wasn’t involved, I would’ve automatically ignored this. But, he always makes things interesting. Even his supposed “duds” have something about them.

    I hope there’s a scene where Jake Gyllenhaal rolls into a crowd and says, “I may not have my legs, but you are all the real double amputees! You’re amputated by your hearts!”

    not that i’m in any way interested in this movie, it looks so corny and hollywoodian. but jake + tatiana = easy win!

    Good trailer. A tear jerker for sure. Love Tatiana and Jake but I’m not sure Ill see this in the theater. Maybe catch it Neflix.
