Bong Joon-ho’s Okja Teaser Trailer

The flood of Netflix original content clearly is not letting up anytime soon, and after airing the first teaser for Bright during the Oscars, this week they have also released their first trailer for yet another major upcoming original film. Okja is the latest film from Korean director Bong Joon-ho (The Host, Snowpiercer) and although it does play in the realm of genre filmmaking, it potentially looks to be his lightest and accessible film to date. The movie is described as a “global adventure” that follows a genetically engineered creature named Okja and the young girl who attempts to protect it from a powerful multi-national corporation. Okja stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito and Ahn Seo-Hyun and it arrives on Netflix on June 28th. Check out the first teaser trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

I hope it still comes to theaters, or at least tours festivals. I have great memories seeing The Host in a packed film festival screening with what must have been a significant percentage of Auckland NZ’s Korean population :)

Looks cool but slightly generic. But with talents like Tilda and Bong Joon-ho I’m intrigued and looking forward to this!
