  • When it’s a four hour long episode. https://media.giphy.com/media/l3q315IZvCL513uLe/giphy.gif

  • Thanks for the years of quality entertainment.

  • Indianamcclain

The fan’s in the trivia showdown did a really good job. The question about Reed’s celebrity crushes let’s you know how difficult it’s going to get.

  • Andrija

Monster is the best thing that’s happened to the show ever since Frankie joined as a regular.

  • RockJoker
  • Lori Cerny

    That is fuckin’ creepy.

  • Tahir Abbas

Congrats on episode 600. It was a great fun listen.

As for the ending of The Mist, I’m with Frank – It’s not a twist, it’s just a
    shocking revelation.

The Usual Suspects, Unbreakable, Sixth Sense are examples of true twist
    endings.

In my mind a twist is where the film is redefined on a re-watch – You change
how you view the film. You look for things that maybe you missed the first
time around. This does not apply to a re-watch of The Mist.

  • Loren

@Sean The Bjork Stalker reference came about on the Planet of the Apes Premium when Frank impersonated Tim Roths character ‘Thade’. You actually said Frank should go as him for Halloween..lol. Here’s the clip people can listen to.. Hilarious stuff.

  • Lori Cerny

Sean, the reason John Wick says it’s impossible to kill Gianna is because he’s looking for an excuse not to do the hit. Wick knows the repercussions of fulfilling the marker – what he has to do for the remainder of the film, ergo, the weapons in the catacombs.

  • Loren

Don’t think that link worked.. Here’s a different one good for 10 days. Great episode guys! Congrats on hitting 600!

  • SLOTH

Jay has said much worse things than the “breast milk” comment on older episodes of the show.

  • Sean

Huh, I guess that makes sense. Did he actually say that though or are you just assuming?

  • Sean

    Thanks!

  • Sean

I’m sure we all have. As he said, it was a long time ago and we’re all pretty different people now. Mostly.

FILM JUNK 600!!! GET WREKD ALL OTHER PODCASTS!!!

  • iammattz

    Congratulations you wonderful bastards!

  • Reed Farrington

Tahir, I think you’ve succinctly said in your definition why I didn’t think The Mist had a twist ending. With this in mind, the Planet of the Apes is a shocking revelation rather than a twist. I can’t think of any insight to be gained on a re-watch.

But I concede to Jay that most peeps would say both The Mist and Planet of the Apes had twist endings. Many films have “twist” endings despite you, Andrew James, Frank, and I having a narrower definition.

  • Reed Farrington

The reboot universe Captain Kirk is so sensitive.

  • Reed Farrington

We thought that was easy, but I suppose I’m not on Film Junk enough and I don’t share my love often enough.

  • Tahir Abbas

    Hi Reed.

Planet of he Apes does have a true twist ending. It affects the whole film.

    On a re-watch we now know…

    1…This is Earth
    2…We are in the future
    3…Humanity has mostly destroyed itself.

You look on the film with new eyes.

This is not so with the ending of The Mist.

  • devolutionary

Get ready for Reed to take over the comments section again. Our “humble” Munchausen moderator at large.

  • pcch7

Great show guys. I’m surprised how many of the trivia questions I got tbh

  • pcch7

That was one of the questions I didn’t remember the answer to, guess Bam Bam Bigelow haha. The idea for Sean and Kieran to go as the twins from Matrix Reloaded is still the best Halloween idea though

  • Kurt

    AMAZING! 600 milestone/achievement unlocked. Congratulations.

  • JC

Well done on the 600 guys. Will be listening later.

  • Reed Farrington

“If fame doesn’t change you, you’re not doing it right.”

  • Loren

Hilarious..Forgot about that one..what episode was that from? Sean’s had a couple. “Bald Guy with sensors for ears from Empire Strikes Back ” and “War Boy from Mad Max Fury Road”.

  • Loren

Was curious why the sudden ‘Monster’ enthusiasm, and was that when Jay and Frank discuss about what constitutes actually shitting ones pants? Greg might have been in on that conversation too…lol.. classic filmjunk.

  • pcch7

Pretty sure it was from the Matrix premium

  • devolutionary

Don’t forget the “Master and Blaster” idea from the Mad Max Premium.

  • Alicia Dwyer

I’m pretty sure ep 291 (Red) was when Frank joined.

  • pcch7

Singe and Scott introduced Monster in the last episode they were on

  • pcch7

I got Swift and the asian actress. I did remember you’ve talked about McAdams when her name was brought up but had no idea for the fourth

  • pcch7

Listening to Jay’s score for the Goblin Man now, so good. Was hoping he’d release it one day

  • Reed Farrington

Jay’s pop singles from his Jay Pride Parade, “Change of the Seasons” and “Boat Vs. Whale,” are still in constant rotation on my Touch.

  • pcch7

I had those on an old hdd I’m pretty sure, they’ve since been lost though

  • Thurston

Congratulations on your 600th episode Sean, Jay and Frank. Hands down my favorite podcast.

  • Kasper

Congratulations on 600 episodes, guys. Best in the biz, no doubt!

  • Matt Gaffney

The Mist ain’t a twist. Needs to be revelatory.

  • Sam

Yeah, I was playing along with all the questions, but on that one, I thought of Zhang Yiyi, and Marion Cotillard but then started thinking of actresses likes Michelle Williams and Amber Tamblyn until I realized I was thinking of Jim Laczkowski’s crushes.

  • Indianamcclain

I only knew about Taylor Swift because it was mentioned a couple times on the show.

  • devolutionary

Reed’s twitter is a big giveaway although he’s rarely mentioned Marion Cotillard there.

  • Kyle Gustafson

Ending the show with DEVO’s “Space Junk” is a great little nod to the history of the Film Junk podcast.

  • Sam

Yeah, I’m kind of proud of myself on some of them, considering I’ve “only” been listening for like 6 years, so a lot of you guys plus the contestants have me beat by a “large margin”. But I was quite happy that I was able to pull out stuff like Sucker Punch, Darren Aronofsky, and Driven along with a lot of the other ones.

I’m sure I would have probably sucked with a timer put on me though, but similar to playing Jeopardy on the couch, I feel I could have done pretty well from the comfort of my work desk chair.

  • pcch7

yeah the Aronofsky one I just guessed tbh, and then it turned out to be right haha. I’m surprised poutine wasn’t one of the words for Jay. For Frank I was thinking “please” would be a sure one, Sean is more difficult to nail down.

  • Peter Harrison

I’m a raging Frankiephile (a Bjork lookalike who’s out to stalk him at a Sport Goth convention) and usually back him to the hilt in his arguments with Jay. Krampus was a slam dunk for the KoC even though Jay embarrisingly reckons he won. But I have to side with Jay on The Mist twist debate. It is clearly a twist and to say otherwise is silly. Frank, as you fast approach your fourth decade on this earth, it is time to set aside this silly notion, draw from the vast ocean of wisdom you messily displace around you when churning through most other thoughts, and cut the Duke some slack: Jay done got you beat fair ‘n square this time.

  • Peter Harrison

Thank you for and congratulations on 600 episodes, and for this episode, a brilliant addition to the canon. Rich in history, hysterical and ending with a debate that spewed out a classic Frank rant (‘read the fucking email!). Thank you too for including one of my trivia quiz questions.

Look forward to hearing Greg and Dax on the show soon, both are integral to the long, venerable FJ mythos and much loved.

  • Dstrbpx

Jay´s ongoing comparison of Frank to a morbidly obese, grotesque-looking, psychotic Uruguayan pest control officer (“the Bjork stalker”) still strikes me as particularily charming.

  • Lori Cerny

He buys and hides guns BEFORE seeking out Gianna, he asked D’Antonio to get someone else to do the hit, and when the the Bowery King (Fishburne) says to Wick, “You owe me.” Wick replies, “You DON’T want me owing you.”

Wouldn’t say assume, but I can infer based on the ease with which Wick does kill Gianna that he was making an excuse.

  • Lori Cerny

    I will always remember Darronofsky!
