Beyond the Gates Trailer: A Retro Horror Movie About an Interactive VCR Game

Hey, remember interactive VCR games? Of course you do. They were a thing for a brief period of time back in the ’80s with one of the most memorable being the horror-themed game Nightmare (released in some parts of the world as Atmosfear), which featured a hooded man known as The Gatekeeper who would occasionally appear on screen and call everyone maggots. Well now first-time director Jackson Stewart has created an indie horror movie clearly inspired by this game and it may be of interest depending on your level of sensitivity to ’80s nostalgic pandering. Beyond the Gates stars Barbara Crampton, Brea Grant, Graham Skipper and Chase Williamson and it hits VOD and select theatres on December 9th. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I like Brea Grant from the Mystic Party podcast, and Chase Williamson from John Dies at the End, could be fun!

Looks fun, I’m in. Adding Barbara Crampton seals the deal.
