Roger Corman’s Death Race 2050 Trailer

Paul W.S. Anderson’s 2008 remake of the Roger Corman-produced cult classic Death Race 2000 wasn’t nearly as fun as it probably should have been, but it was apparently successful enough to spawn two direct-to-DVD sequels. Sensing that there was somehow still more money to be made, Roger Corman has now returned to his original film to give us an official sequel: Death Race 2050. Directed by G.J. Echternkamp (Frank and Cindy), this movie finds Manu Bennett (Spartacus: War of the Damned, Arrow) taking on the role of Frankenstein with Malcolm McDowell as the evil Chairman. Unfortunately, although this sounds great in theory, the trailer makes it pretty clear that this is going to look a lot like Corman’s recent Syfy output such as Sharktopus and Dinocroc vs. Supergator. So you know… don’t get too excited. Death Race 2050 hits Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray on Jan. 17th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
