Blade Runner Sequel Gets an Official Title

bladerunnerconcept

We’re exactly one year away from the release of a brand new Blade Runner movie, which still seems a little hard to believe. We don’t really know all that much about it, but this week Alcon Entertainment and Warner Brothers have revealed the official title for the movie: Blade Runner 2049. While it doesn’t reveal anything new, it confirms that the sequel will indeed take place exactly thirty years after the original. What do you think of the title? Blade Runner 2049 is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) and it stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Lennie James and Barkhad Abdi. The movie hits theatres on Oct. 6th, 2017; check out the first official set photo after the jump.

The title is a bit cluncky. And release date seems unlikely indeed. To soon. Don’t want it to be rushed. But we’ll see.

Loved BR so looking forward to this. Hopefully it will live up to the anticipation.

Does Frank believe in Filmography Title cred?

If so, does he feel less of Denis Villenueve abandoning his 1 word title streak he’s had throughout his career?

    Maelstrom
    Polytechnique
    Incendies
    Prisoners
    Enemy
    Sicario
    Arrival

Not even a “The” or “A” anywhere.

Probably should have just titled it “Runner”. Come on Denis!

great title. think of all the classic movies with dates in their title: 1941, 10,000 bc, year one….

  • RockJoker

Still it seems a bit too quick.

If it’s half as good as Rush 2049 was for the Dreamcast then I’ll be happy
