Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire Red Band Trailer

Fresh off the Midnight Madness premiere last night at TIFF, here is the first trailer for Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire. Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, this is an action movie that has the potential to be Wheatley’s most accessible film to date… which is to say, it still looks gritty and violent as hell. The premise involves an arms deal between two gangs in a deserted warehouse in Boston in 1978 that devolves into a massive shootout. There doesn’t appear to be much more to it than that, but I’m excited to find out what other tricks Wheatley has up his sleeve. It certainly seems like he is channeling Tarantino and Peckinpah here and the intriguing cast includes Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Cillian Murphy, Sam Riley, Noah Taylor and Michael Smiley. Free Fire is expected to hit theatres sometime in 2017; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
