Just one week after releasing the first teaser trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming sci-fi film Arrival, Paramount has followed it up with another full-length trailer. The new trailer still preserves the mystery at the heart of the film but fleshes out the various tensions and conflicts surrounding humanity’s first encounter with an alien presence. The movie seems to be attempting to play the scenario out as realistically as possible while also maintaining a sense of wonder and awe. Clearly there are echoes of movies like Contact, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and 2001: A Space Odyssey here, but it also looks like this will take us on its own unique journey as well.
