Seems like there could be some bad blood between Damon and Gilroy. This article has some quotes from Damon calling the original Bourne Ultimatum script trash, and it seems Gilroy might have pitched Legacy to the studio behind Damon/Greengrass’ backs. The article also calls Legacy a minor-masterpiece, so who knows.

You’re right. I now remember he saw a couple of the Quatermass movies, and I believe he saw Dracula: Prince of Darkness fairly recently and also some of the lesser vampire films that were released on Blu-Ray and I believe Sean watched Hound of the Baskervilles at some point.

Frank would definitely be a Hammer virgin though.

  • Indianamcclain

If I remember correctly, On the Bourne Legacy show they discuss the trilogy.

  • DrewNugent

Sean’s the only one who rides the critical wave.

  • B MP Rooney

Yeah. Dax is always a good guy to have on. I especially like that he is a fan of the show, and says many things a fan would say while podcasting. The bit about “dog shit” had me laughing pretty hard. Phew… Great episode.

  • B MP Rooney

Dang. The discussions about the Elf-Man are gunna be great!!!

  • SLionsCricket

I would love to see a Dirty Harry premium, or at least an Eastwood premium but December has SURELY got to be Martin Scorsese right? In honour of the release of Silence? Sean?

  • SLionsCricket

Sean, have you considered doing some more premiums on great filmmakers. I would LOVE to see a Coppola premium which I think can cover some of his “high highs” to some of his “lows”, making for an interesting overall discussion.

  • LordAwesome

Rob Zombie? Rob Zombie??? Are you taking the piss?

  • flexideer

oh good call, I just grabbed the blu ray set after reading an article about dirty harry movies. Have watched the first two, I had no idea they were would be as interesting as they are

  • Lark

Alien Abduction Premium aka Frankie Heart Attack Premium

  • mondo_lambo

Sean, on the next FJ could we get an official statement by Jay if he really did invent the “stranger technique”?

  • Eric D

I literally went to take a piss at the drive-in during the last fight scene between Bourne and the bad guy. That sums up my thoughts on this movie.

  • Mark

Fellas! Fellas! Do you really think that the Ghostbusters, even at the height of their Time Magazine/Larry King notoriety, could have afforded to commission an original theme song from the great RAY PARKER JR?!? Come on, let’s call this what it is, a COMPLETE GASH CRAB!

  • LordAwesome

Steven Seagal was doing close quarters combat well before Jason Boring.

  • Isildur_of_Numenor

I think I remember that too. Still, a premium would’ve been pretty sweet.

  • mikeyt34

Dax is awesome! Easily my favorite guest. You guys should try to have him on more often.

  • Stanley Puberick

I saw Brief Encounter a week or so ago on TCM and thought it was one of the most honest love/infidelity stories I’ve ever seen, despite the fact that it’s from the 1940s. 5 STARS ON LETTERBOXD BBY.

  • Matt Thephotoman

I love it. That’s marmite, not suicide squad.

I have to jump in with Rob Zombie being a terrible choice. So many fantastic directors and you choose Rob Zombie. I guess I understand about pacing yourselves and the fear of running out of topics so occasionally your going to have to feed from the bottom of the barrel. But Rob Zombie shouldn’t be in the barrel.

Dirty Harry would be awesome with The Gauntlet as the bonus film

There are so many directors too…

Sergio Leone – man with no name trilogy, once upon a time in the west and America.
Walter Hill – Crossroads, the Warriors, extreme Prejudice, brewsters millions, red heat, 48hrs, trespass… Plus many more
David cronenberg – scanners, the brood, videodrome, naked lunch, crash, a history of violence, the fly and a bonus fly 2 because it’s just an awesome sequel
David lynch – twin peaks tv series, film and blue velvet, wild at heart, mullholland drive, dune, elephant man, erasorhead
Renny Harlin – prison, cliffhanger, long kiss goodnight, deep blue sea, adventures of ford fairlane
Paul Verhoven – flesh and blood, starship troopers, basic instinct, total recall, showgirls, hollowman
James Cameron – the abyss, true lies, avatar, titanic, piranha 2
Richard donner – the Goonies, ladyhawke, scooged, radio flyer, assassins
Mark L Lester – class of 1984, firestarter, commando, armed and dangerous, class of 1999, showdown in little Tokyo, extreme justice
Giuseppe Tornatore – cinema Paradiso, a pure formality, melena, the best offer, the legend of 1900 (starring Film Junk favorite Pruitt Taylor Vince)

So many to choose from, plus have some themes…

Ozploitation – Road Games, Turkey Shoot, Frog Dreaming, Razor Back, Welcome to Woop Woop (ok not really ozploitation but I really want you to see it)
Robots – Short circuit 1 and 2, Deadly Friend, Runaway
Ninja – Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja, American Ninja, Ninja Academy, Beverly Hills Ninja
When animals attack – Cujo, Night of the Lepus, Food of the Gods, The Watchers, Mans best friend, Arachnophobia
Alien invaders – Alien Nation, invasion of the body Snatchers, I come in Peace, critters and the best genre movie ever made… The Hidden. Seriously if you have not seen the Hidden you have not experienced the best genre cinema has to offer.

There you go, plenty to consider instead of Rob Zombie.

You probably don’t know a thing about Australian ratings but we have M (15+) which is recommended for 15 years and over, and R(18+) which is restricted to adults 18 years and over. R rated cannot be hired by under 18’s so both Marked for Death and Out for Justice released in two versions, an M and R rated. The highlight of those two films had to be the arm breakages which had the sound edited out of the M rated version.

Along comes DVD and only an R Rated version is released but this featured the M rated edit. How crap is that. Total Recall was also released in 2 versions with lots of violence taken out and the scene where Benny wishes he had 3 hands.

  • SLionsCricket

Absolutely! Would love to have Reed/Gerry on it as well.
