Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden Trailer

The man who brought us such twisted thrillers as Oldboy, Thirst and Stoker is back with another unsettling tale of deception and vengeance. Park Chan-wook’s latest film The Handmaiden finds him travelling back to 1930s Korea where a young woman poses as a handmaiden in order to help convince a Japanese heiress to marry a con man after her fortune. Unfortunately, things get a bit more complicated when the handmaiden and the heiress end up falling for each other instead. The off-kilter trailer promises some stunning imagery along with a general sense of unease and early reviews coming out of Cannes have been overwhelmingly positive. The Handmaiden hits select theatres on Oct. 14th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
