I got most of his earlier films from “bargain bins” in Chinese malls. Actually, I have a hole in my collection because I don’t have Raise the Red Lantern although I did see the movie years ago on a specialty cable channel.

Currently, there’s a “video” store that sells its rental copies for cheap after a few years, and I seem to be one of the only peeps who buys the foreign movies.

I support this premium whole-heartedly, but I think the bonus would have to be Zhang Yimous Beijing Olympics show, which as far as I remember was on par with his best film work.
