Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge Trailer Starring Andrew Garfield

After taking a ten year hiatus from directing, Mel Gibson is finally back behind the camera for a new movie arriving later this year called Hacksaw Ridge. Based on a true story, the movie stars Andrew Garfield as Corporal Demond Doss, a conscientious objector during World War II who nevertheless served in the U.S. military and showed great acts of courage on the battlefield despite his refusal to fire a gun. While Gibson’s last two films (Apocalypto or The Passion of the Christ) were gritty and visceral experiences, this does seem a little more sentimental and much more in line with 1996 Best Picture winner Braveheart. The hope seems to be that this movie will also be in the discussion come Oscar season, although it will be interesting to see if Hollywood is ready to once again embrace Gibson with open arms. Hacksaw Ridge co-stars Sam Worthington, Vince Vaughn, Teresa Palmer, Luke Bracey and Hugo Weaving and it hits theatres on Nov. 4th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
