After getting his groove back with last year’s The Visit, M. Night Shyamalan quickly reteamed with producer Jason Blum for his next project, another original thriller called Split. The movie stars James McAvoy as a disturbed individual named Kevin who has dissociative identity disorder and is believed to exhibit 23 different personalities. When one of those personalities decides to abduct three teenage girls, the girls must learn to navigate all of his different selves and play them against each other if they hope to escape. Joaquin Phoenix was originally attached to star and was later forced to drop out, but McAvoy seems to be a solid replacement who is more than up for this unique acting challenge. Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) also co-stars. Split hits theatres on Jan. 20th; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
