Although Alexandre Aja seems to be doing a little more producing than directing as of late, fans will be happy to hear that he has a new movie coming out later this year. The potentially disappointing news is that this doesn’t seem to be a pure horror movie, but more of a supernatural thriller which is something he has had less success with. The 9th Life of Louis Drax is based on the best-selling novel by Liz Jensen and it revolves around a young boy who has survived eight near-fatal accidents, only to fall into a coma after his ninth brush with death. Mysterious forces are at play and it falls to a neurologist (played by Jamie Dornan) to get the bottom of it all. The rest of the cast includes Aaron Paul, Sarah Gadon, Oliver Platt, Molly Parker and Barbara Hershey while the script was written by Max Minghella. There seem to be some intriguing visuals and ideas here although the movie does look a little bit budget in places. The 9th Life of Louis Drax hits select theatres on Sept. 2nd; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
