Do you have any links to where How to Build a Time Machine is screening?

  • Lori Cerny

If you’re going to cast an Asian actor as Bond, Won Bin (The Man From Nowhere, Mother, The Brotherhood of War) would be excellent. Not only can he do action, but he has emotional range, is good looking, and can display the graceful movement and intensity of Daniel Craig. Plus, at 38 years of age, he’s not too old, yet old enough to be taken seriously as a lethal spy.

As far as I know, and Reed can correct me on this, but Won does not speak English. However, there’s ways around that in Hollywood and that’s what language coaches are for.

He definitely is missed in the film world and has been gone too long.

the junk mail section was indeed absolutely lovely.
get well pete! all the best

  • Carlos Gonzalez

Great episode, guys. It was totally fucked, in a HUGE way.

  • devolutionary

Quantum-Dot LED is already planning to push OLED out? This is why being a bleeding edge early-adopter is no dice for me.

  • RJ

What’s this pro-tip? How can you not edit that cockteaser out of the show?

  • Anonymous

I think it’s that Ghostbuster I & II UHD are $8.00 on Target.com (Which can be price matched at Best Buy) You didn’t hear it from me though…

  • Frankie Knuckles

Sean …. delete this post ASAP

THE JUNKERS HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!!!!

  • Samb

Jay, you should read Chuck Klosterman’s Roseanne piece on The Ringer that just went up today.

    https://theringer.com/future-of-tv-chuck-klosterman-what-if-were-wrong-46ecb1a5444#.66oidhuc7

I’m spoiling his big reveal by calling it a Roseanne piece, but there’s a lot of Klosterman-esque rambling leading up to it that gets tiresome. Anyway, he says many of the things you’ve said about the show over the years, and it’s quite good.

  • LordAwesome

Bond is not Asian. He is a British man of Scottish and Swiss descent.

He isn’t black either, or a woman.

  • gnomes

    Where’s Dax?

  • Theo

Although in fairness he’s been Australian, Welsh and Irish too.

  • Sam

Come on man, that’s only like 50% of the Bonds that don’t fall under his criteria. Insignificant.

  • Where’s Reed?

  • Sean

He will be back next week for Warcraft.

  • Sean

Good question. I don’t think there is an official site for the movie yet. Maybe Jay should be adding events to the Facebook page:

  • Sean

The same place he always is… at the mall stealing wi-fi!

  • no one important

Frank…. You have about 45 films pre the 1980s logged on letterboxd. That’s about 1 film per year. Do you have any comments?

Welcome to Woop Woop is a 1990’s comedy so before you see that you need to view some earlier stuff. I would suggest, to broaden and make your LB account more credible, the Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer Trinity westerns.

  • Niklas

Jay – you’re moving a lot lately. April 2014 and now June of 2016 and you said you will probably move again next year. I hope you find a home soon.

  • LordAwesome

No he hasn’t. Those are the nationalities of the actors that were playing him. The character’s heritage stayed the same.

  • Larry Morgan

Did the junk-mailer give an indication of the year-range that movie he was looking for was from?

  • Sean

No, but we already had someone on Facebook suggest that it might be a made for TV movie from 1982 called Marian Rose White.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084305/

    Can anyone else confirm?

  • Jamie

What about Jerking Off during a movie( and subsequently and logging it on Letterboxd) ??

I know this came up from time to time (usually Jay mocking Frank, which is ironic as Jay was famously caught masturbating by his parents), but never in a serious way.
Are you really watching a film if you are actually concentrating on your cock?

  • devolutionary

Yes Jay, I think we’re all dying to know the plot intricacies and performances of “Oreo Madness”.

  • Andrija

Get that guy to review Warcraft; the lower the RT score, the higher his rating.

  • LordAwesome

Agreed. Reed reviewing WARCRAFT would be amazing.

  • j-diggle

Someone needs to rent it from the library and rip it on to YouTube!

  • Lior

I managed to finish the podcast before the end of the week! And I can comment before everybody moved on! It’s huge.

The Money Pit. Oh, The Money Pit. That scene where Tom Hanks fills his bathtub with bucket water only to see it crash into the floor below, and then just points at it, uttering this unending maniacal laugh, with Shelley Long looking at him with this perfect expression of pity and concern… This is is comedy gold. One of the funniest scenes ever made. Tom Hanks, please do comedies again. I beg of you. The movie is far from perfect and I agree with the Junkers analysis, but I love it despite its faults.

American Ninja does not hold up very well even if you’ve seen it multiple times as I kid, as I did. The sequel, American Ninja 2: The Confrontation is actually a little better and is probably the best outing in the series overall. It has bigger scope, probably a bigger budget, and way more ninjas. It’s still schlocky fantasy, but it’s not as boring as the original.

Henry Cavill came in second place to play Bond behind Daniel Craig, so if Superman doesn’t work out or DC reboots Superman again, Cavill would probably make a good Bond (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.).

  • j-diggle

I was happy to see the Ali Baba logo pop up again at the beginning of TMNT2.

  • Lori Cerny

There has to be an Oz listener willing to do this.

  • Lori Cerny

If you add all the percentages of “Asian” from the 2011 census, it’s around 15% Asian heritage in England. This is doable.

  • Reed Farrington

It’s FREE WI-FI! And I’m at the library!

  • Reed Farrington

I really did enjoy Warcraft’s online multiplayer game. (Warcraft may be the only game I paid full price, because of peer pressure at work.)

  • Reed Farrington

I don’t know anything about Won Bin. (People might think you’re being racist, Lori, if they didn’t know that I know that you know that I love Asian film. :-)) Even if he doesn’t speak English, they could just sub-title him and pretend all the characters in the movie understand Korean.

To really irritate movie-goers, they should rename the character, too. “Bon, James Bon.”

I’m glad you mentioned “The Man from Nowhere,” Lori, because this gives me the chance to tell everyone again to see the film, especially if one enjoys the “man protects little girl” genre.

  • Would love to hear your thoughts on Warcraft, Darth Nameless!

  • The character of Bond should be British, as “Queen and Country” is inherent in the character. He should be a man, as his misogyny and distrust of women is important motivation and background for his character. Beyond that, it doesn’t matter.
Let’s be honest, the casting in the James Bond series is all fucking over the place. Who plays who is not even a little bit sacred. If M can be a woman, Moneypenny and Felix black, and Q a millennial, there’s no goddamn reason Bond has to be white.

Don’t know if you’ve already seen it by now, but Feeding the monster behind the scenes Roseanne doc can be found on YouTube now:

  • Sean

Yes, I believe it was a Film Junk listener who uploaded it for Jay. Gotta love it.

  • Nostra

Might be an idea tot see if others have movies they are not able to find. Personally I’ve been looking for the documentary Breath Control, which was shown at some festivals but never released because of copyright issues with the music. Read some bootlegs are floating around but never have been able to track one down.
