Last year Netflix started adding feature films to their line-up of original content with two movies on opposite ends of the artistic spectrum: Beasts of No Nation and The Ridiculous 6. Since then they’ve continued to add more original movies, and although their track record hasn’t been so hot, perhaps this upcoming film can help reverse that trend. The Fundamentals of Caring stars Craig Roberts (Submarine) as a cynical 18-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy who goes on a road trip with his reluctant caregiver (Paul Rudd) and learns life lessons along the way. Yeah, as you can probably guess, this was a hit at Sundance and it seems to include all of the cliches that might entail. Here’s to hoping the cast can rise above that to deliver something charming and memorable. The Fundamentals of Caring is directed by Rob Burnett (The Late Show With David Letterman) and arrives on Netflix on June 24th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
