Michael B. Jordan Joins Black Panther

While it is still unclear if there will be another Fantastic Four movie with the same cast as last year’s reboot (producer Simon Kinberg is hoping so), Michael B. Jordan has already gone and landed himself a role in another major comic book movie. Not surprisingly, it also happens to be the one that his buddy Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) is directing. Now that Black Panther has made his debut in Captain America: Civil War, things are starting to gear up for his solo movie, which is expected to hit theatres in 2018. Jordan has reportedly joined the cast while Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) is said to be in negotiations as well. But who might either one of them be playing?
According to THR, Michael B. Jordan will reteam with director Ryan Coogler for Marvel’s Black Panther. There is no word yet on who he might play, but one source is claiming that he is the film’s villain. If that is the case, he could be playing Killmonger, a Wakandan with martial arts skills who vowed revenge on Black Panther. He would potentially face off against Chadwick Boseman, who is playing T’Challa / Black Panther.
As for Lupita Nyong’o, she is reportedly in talks to play the Black Panther’s love interest, although the exact character has not been specified. Comic book lore tells us that some of the most likely options include Okoye, one of his personal bodyguards, Monica Lynne, an American singer, or Malaika, the Wakandan trade ambassador to Paris, although he was also romantically involved with the X-Men’s Storm in the comics as well. Either way, production is set to start in early 2017 and Ryan Coogler is currently working on the script with Joe Robert Cole (American Crime Story). Are you excited about these new additions to Black Panther?
