New to Theatres This Weekend: Money Monster, The Darkness, High-Rise

With Captain America: Civil War still tearing up the box office, there aren’t any new blockbusters hitting theatres this weekend. Instead, we’ve got a few smaller movies in wide release including Jodie Foster’s hostage thriller Money Monster starring George Clooney and The Darkness, a new horror film from the director of Wolf Creek. If those two options don’t interest you, there are also quite a few new movies in limited release including Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise (which is already available on VOD), Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster and Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship plus the martial arts flick Kill Zone 2 starring Tony Jaa and Last Days in the Desert starring Ewan McGregor as Jesus. What will you be checking out this weekend?

Didn’t know High-Rise was VOD. Will you guys review it?

Frank and I reviewed it on last year’s TIFF episode.

    “High-Rise” was fucking obnoxious.
How many annoying slow motion-music video-collages can you fit into one movie?!?
My theater had loads of walk-outs as well, seems to be a common thing with his ADHD “filmmaking”.
