New to Theatres This Weekend: Captain America: Civil War, A Bigger Splash, Elstree 1976

The summer movie season has officially arrived, bringing with it what should easily be one of the biggest movies of the year. Captain America: Civil War is potentially looking at the best Marvel opening weekend to date, which makes sense considering that to most people it simply looks like another Avengers movie. As expected, no other major releases are foolish enough to try and compete, although there are a handful of other alternatives in select theatres including A Bigger Splash, the English-language debut of Luca Guadagnino (I Am Love), and the Star Wars documentary Elstree 1976. On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for an established classic, Jean-Luc Godard’s Band of Outsiders is also getting a theatrical re-release courtesy of Rialto Films. What will you be watching this weekend?

Captain America: Civil War is great, they got the story working. Nice after BVS to see a good Comic movie. Never thought that i would like it after the trailer.

I can’t wait for Jay’s 1.5/5 review of Civil War where he spends 15 minutes talking about how they didn’t explicitly explain one of the tools that one of the characters uses.

I think his complaint about Nick Fury escaping the car in Winter Soldier is completely valid. The directors even admit on the commentary that it’s contrived.
