The Flash Movie Loses Director, Aquaman May Follow Suit

Update: James Wan has responded to these rumours with a photo implying he is still on board.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may have just made $862 million worldwide, but all is not well in the DC / Warner Brothers universe right now. The movie was trounced by critics and reviled by fans, leaving Warner Brothers with a desire to regroup and course correct in order to try and win back public favour. The problem, it seems, is that Justice League: Part One has already started production and Zack Snyder is now butting heads with the studio over his vision. While it may be too late to make major changes to that film, other future DC films are starting to get caught in the crossfire. We’re hearing that The Flash has already lost its director and Aquaman might soon follow. Hit the jump for the full scoop.
According to THR, Seth Grahame-Smith has stepped down as director of The Flash, citing creative differences as the reason. This would have been his directorial debut and it was obviously a huge opportunity for the screenwriter, so you can probably assume those creative differences were pretty major. The project will still use his script for the time being, although that definitely seems likely to get a rewrite in the near future.
Birth Movies Death has since followed up with a report that James Wan is also having second thoughts about directing Aquaman. It is unclear what his own specific reasons are but we’ve heard previously that he was not eager to repeat the painful process he experienced with Furious 7. At this point, WB needs him more than he needs them, so they’ll have to do some convincing if they want to avoid losing him as well. Wan and Grahame-Smith are not necessarily directors that will sell tickets based on their names alone, but if word gets out that these projects are a nightmare to work on, Warners might have a hard time replacing them with someone better. What do you think, is this good or bad news for the DC Universe?
