Finally bought The Witness – so late to the party!

Super simple premise, outrageously vivid, and addictive. However, I am not a fan of the graphic style as it feels too retro, too The Myst. Excited for their next title, though.

Thanks Lucas. The excitement definitely wears off after a while… especially in the mobile industry. I will miss it, but hope to find more satisfaction dabbling on the side at my own pace. We shall see.

To the guy wanting to buy his first console since the megadrive, I’d go for a PS4 as it’s a little more powerful than the Xbone. Games that you’re into look better on PS4 because of this.

Don’t cheap out on the hard drive, get a 1GB model. Patches are getting ridiculously big (The one for Witcher 3 was over 18 GB.) plus the OS takes up a big chunk of the hard drive to start with.

If you’ve got the patience to wait for the new 4K PS4 launch in the autumn, the standard PS4 should come down in price at that time. Who knows, the new PS4 4K version may be at current pricing levels as Sony tries to kickstart virtual reality, so you could pick up one of those.

If you decide to go for a current model choose one with a physical power and eject button as these are the quieter, more power efficient PS4’s introduced last Christmas.

Buy The Witcher 3, which is great, and should keep you going for a long time, and check out Metacritic and Gamespot reviews for other such games.

Good luck on the other side Dwyer! I’m sure you’ll move forward seamlessly, I found the games industry to be for commited hardcore gamers, and as I was barely a casual gamer, the veil of grandeur was pretty thin for me. 7 years I battled creating realtime graphics, and after I moved away from it, I started really enjoying just playing games again
So now I prerender…And it’s…Great.
