The Flash Movie May Also Star Cyborg

After the success of The Avengers, many people wondered how Marvel could maintain their momentum going into Phase 2 for another wave of solo superhero movies. Part of their solution was to keep doing smaller team-ups, for example by pairing Captain America with Black Widow for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Although Warner Brothers is sort of working in the opposite direction of Marvel, they could run into the same problem with their solo movies in the wake of Batman v Superman and the upcoming Justice League movies. Unsurprisingly, it sounds like they are also taking a page from Marvel’s playbook by planning some crossovers, including one that involves both The Flash and Cyborg. Hit the jump for more details.

Speaking to Forbes recently, BvS producer Deborah Snyder recently revealed this little tidbit about The Flash solo movie:

“As you can imagine, when we get to the Flash movie, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher — who plays Cyborg — are kind of our youngest characters, and they have a really nice comradery with each other. Ezra is super funny, so the tone of that film will be very different than the rest of them.”

So it sounds like it will be a buddy movie of sorts, which could be an interesting choice. I’m not sure if they have a strong relationship in the comics (aren’t The Flash and Green Lantern supposed to be buddies?), but it seems like a good way to help build up Cyborg, who is definitely a lesser known character. (Warner Brothers also has a Cyborg solo movie planned for 2020.) The Flash is scheduled to hit theatres on March 16, 2018 and will be directed by Seth Grahame-Smith. What do you think, is this good news or should they keep The Flash movie focused on The Flash?

Wouldn’t it be better just to come up with a great story? Yes it’s more difficult than a “team-up” but it might mean a longer shelf life at the cinema.

I’m beginning to think (sarcasm here) the WB has no idea how to handle their superhero franchises…sigh.

I don’t know. Just from having casually observed my son watch some episodes ofTeen Titans, I’m mildly more interesting about Cyborg on paper than I am about Doctor Strange or Black Panther. That isn’t saying much though.

Imagine a DC movie …which is not so serious and but then Snyder is one of the producer, Think Warner is startng to think about a plan B) but still waiting what the toal Boxoffice of BvS will be. And until then will put all Projects on hold.
